Open Xlsx files from gsheets are not parsed in the same way as ones from mac and windows spreadsheets #2112 defusioner opened this issue Sep 21, 2020 1 comment. To set Numbers as the default application to open.xlsx files, go to the Finder, locate a file of this type and single click its icon, then Get Info (command-I or File Get Info or in column view, click the More Info button under the file's icon).

I cannot open any Excel file whether it was created on Mac or PC.

It opens in Numbers then I have to save it as an Excel file. That doesn't seem right to me. When I try to open it I get a window for every Excel file on my computer with a message that it can't be opened. Once I close them all I have to open it with Number then save the file as an Excel file.
